April 01, 2022

Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu – GMR MEGAWIDE Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC), together with Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), welcomes a new international route by Singapore Airlines (SIA) that connects Singapore to Davao and Cebu from 1 April 2022.

From 1 April 2022, the SIA Group will operate daily flights on its Singapore-Davao-Cebu service, where passengers can look forward to flying in a 162-seat capacity narrowbody aircraft.

“We are full of hope that with the launch of this new route with Singapore Airlines, recovery and growth of our network continue to improve as we re-open our borders in this new normal. The route will open Cebu once again to more destinations with Singapore as a premier travel hub,“ said Louie Ferrer, GMCAC President.

The timely commencement of SIA’s flight route to Cebu will be part of the country’s second busiest airport, where the borders begin to reopen gradually and international flights will progressively resume to key destinations abroad.

As Singapore announces its simplified testing protocols and the lifting of its quarantine for full- vaccinated individuals, the service is expected to contribute passenger traffic in both destinations, Singapore and Cebu.

“Despite the challenges of COVID-19 and even with the Typhoon Odette, we are delighted with this launch as we offer passengers with greater connectivity to several destinations around the world,” said Julius G. Neri, Jr., MCIAA General Manager and CEO.

SQ906 SIN-DVO-CEB arrives in Cebu at 6:00 p.m. and will depart for Singapore at 6:50 p.m.

Apart from the resumption of international fights, MCIA also continues to see its domestic network slowly regaining traffic, thanks to the reopening of the local tourism industry.
